Infection Control

The need for infection control to mitigate risks from the spread of viruses and bacteria in homes and workplaces has always existed. The Coronavirus pandemic has brought this into sharper focus.

At Knight & Doyle, as professional carpet and upholstery cleaners in the Walsall area we have carried out infection control work for many years. We are experienced, trained and qualified to do this. One of our senior team is qualified to clean crime scenes.

Where We Provide Infection Control

We carry out infection control in offices, care homes, retail premises, restaurants, bars, leisure clubs and gyms, industrial premises, schools and nurseries.

We take our information from respected sources such as the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and International Federation of Infection Control who say “Thorough cleaning and drying should always precede disinfecting and sterilisation procedures”. In layman’s terms one single cleaning process cannot effectively clean, sanitise and deodorise.

The Right Processes For The Right Results

Our technicians are suitably protected and have the correct PPE. They also adhere to the latest social distancing rules.

We are experts in infection control. We make sure the correct solutions and cleaning agents are applied using the correct application processes. When we assess each job, we consider the building, the antimicrobial activity of different sanitisers and their effect on different kinds of viruses, bacteria, yeasts and moulds.

For effective infection control, cleaning and sanitising must be carried out as two separate processes. So, one cleaning process is not enough.

If required we can help our customers carry out a risk assessment and advise them on the correct cleaning, sanitising and deodorising procedures, ensuring the right processes are used to achieve the right results.

Infection Control Systems Used

Our technicians are trained in the use of different sanitisers and how they should be applied relative to each job. For example, when to use a spray method, a foam or a fog.

Our cleaning solutions are all accredited and approved to European standards EN1276, EN14476, EN1650 to log a kill of between 4 and 6 (99.99% to 99.9999%)

Cold Fogging

This is a floor to ceiling disinfection treatment. It is used to treat large areas in a short amount of time. Our trained technicians use Ultra Low Volume disinfection fogging. This treats the top and sides of objects and inaccessible areas that cannot be reached using regular cleaning methods. It effectively treats surfaces and the air to kill pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, yeasts and moulds.

Ozone Sanitising

Subject to a site visit ozone sanitising usually takes around 1 hour per room.

Ozone sanitising is one of the most powerful and effective natural cleaning agents. It works 3,000 times faster and is 50% more powerful than chlorine.

Our ozone sanitising process uses ozone generators. It is a fast and effective way to completely sanitise an entire room or building. Every surface including soft furnishings, floor to ceiling.

Ozone sanitising and deodorising is relatively new in the UK, but it is widely used in hospitals in the US. It is certified to safely protect against Coronavirus, bacteria and spores such as Salmonella, C Diff, E-coli, yeasts, fungi and moulds. It is also effective to treat insect infestations.

We use ozone sanitising in many different businesses such nursing homes, but it can be used in almost any kind of room in any kind of building or in a private house.

The best thing about ozone sanitising is that it reverts back to oxygen leaving no residues. It is safer than germicides, pesticides, bactericides and fungicides.

Ozone sanitising is also used for the effective elimination of unpleasant odours. We also offer regular ozone sanitising please see details of our infection control maintenance plan below.
